'Dark Carnival' heading for You Tube

VML's Table Gaming Society 'TTRPG' has been hard at work filming a campaign for our You Tube channel. A group of the elder young people have been filmed showing everyone how it is done with 'Dark Carnival' which we hope will be an incentive for more young people to get involved. As soon as the film is edited and online, a link will be provided on this news page and on our social media network. Please stay tuned for more information.....

Waiting for Godot at Norton Priory

The superb cast of our production of Waiting for Godot at Norton Priory 21st July 2024 performed to a fabulous audience who engaged with this fascinating piece of classic theatre. Powerful characterisation from all involved and another big hit for VML Drama. Here's to the next one!

Macbeth wows audiences at the Brindley Runcorn

For three nights June 12,13 and 14th 2024, the Bard's work was brought to life as he intended, in the Brindley Studio. No frills or gimmicks on this one, just an honest to goodness telling of this classic tale. It was met with standing ovations every performance and proves that there is still a good appetite for classic drama wherever people live.

'Wow......what a performance. Great acting, brilliant lighting and effects. Not an easy play to perform, but couldn't fault any of it. Well done to all who took part.

Well worth a visit, tickets still available x'   P Sant, Runcorn

Yet another superb VML Drama production! This time Shakespeare's Scottish play - Macbeth. The passion and commitment the actors put into their roles shines through in the performance.  I doubt if many amateur drama groups would even attempt Shakespeare but talent of the cast is outstanding and at a level you could see in any mainstream theatre (in some cases probably better!). Well done VML!!'  Lynn Toy.

VML would like to extend a huge thank you to the talented artist Mark Curbishley for his superb work on Macbeth's severed head. Mark you are a genius and the entire cast and crew loved your work. Thank you.

VML Perform for the Halton WI Eurovision Night in Runcorn

And a fun night was had by all as VML took up the invitation to enhance the WI Eurovision evening. Three classic winners were performed for the audience followed by Waterloo (what else on this 50th anniversary year?) and then we led the entire room in 40 minutes of ABBA singalong music and much dancing and laughter followed. A Great night and yet another example of how VML gets out there into the heart of the community!

ABBA Afternoon creates a real buzz!

VML performed the magic of ABBA  to brighten up a cold miserable January day on what is to be ABBA's 50th anniversary since the Eurovision smash Waterloo. A two hour concert of all their hits followed an ABBA themed café where the VML Charity volunteers fed over 200 people from the local community. The feedback has been nothing short of inspiring and gained VML many more audience members and followers.

The Concert was in aid of the preservation of St. Michael and All Angels Church in Runcorn, Cheshire that, like many places of worship is struggling to survive for future generations.

Rob Littler of VML said 'The church is a vital part of the community in Runcorn and we were all proud to help out.' The event raised a massive £1500 for the church and we would like to thank everyone who came to support what was a magic afternoon.

VML enchants a Norton Priory audience with Victorian Carols in the Under croft of the old  Monastery

December 14th 2023 saw the first ever performance of Victorian Christmas Carols by VML at Norton Priory in Halton. The Priory, a regional asset, run by a dedicated board of trustees attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. We are proud to say that we performed to the largest audience to date in the atmospheric under croft. Dressed in Victorian outfits and refreshing the audience with mince pies and mulled wine it was a poignant reminder of days of yore!

Anne Bamber with Rob Littler and the VML Trustees presenting the VML Tony Bamber Award for outstanding contribution to community arts to Rob Sanderson Thomas, CEO of Norton Priory. This was in recognition of all the Priory does to help with arts in the Halton Community.

Rob Sanderson-Thomas, CEO, says, “We are thrilled to have our cultural work for the local
community recognised in this way. To be joining a long list of incredible, passionate and
dedicated previous recipients of the award makes it all the more valued. Tony Bamber was
a powerful force for the community, an ethos which Anthony’s Travel continues to
champion today. Working with Rob Littler and VML over this past year has brought new
opportunities, not just for our audiences, but also for local performers.”

We held our very popular annual Quiz Night. It has become so popular that we had to get extra tables and chairs to fit everyone into the room!

Lots of fun and laughter was the order of the evening with the added bonus of raising funds.

Coming in November 2023, VML in conjunction with Davis McMullen Runcorn and St Michael's Church will be running a Bereavement Café  on Friday lunchtimes, initially once a month with a view to going weekly as the need grows.

The idea is to provide a safe and secure space for people recently bereaved or grieving the  loss of a loved one. Often it is hard for others to understand what the loss can do to people individually so this Café  will be a place of support for anyone who needs it.
